Liverpool University Mountaineering Club

Competitive Mountaineering with LUMC

Bouldering

Trials and selection: the winter bouldering league

Everything starts at The Climbing Hangar, where the whole club will attend the Winter Bouldering League; this is a local competition made up of 5 rounds throughout the academic year. It is absolutely worth attending, not only for the thrilling atmosphere, but also for the raffle at the end of each round and a good night out!
It's fundamental for any competitive member to attend the first round of the Winter Bouldering League: performing well will help your chances of being in the squad.

BUCS

BUCS (British Universities & Colleges Sport) is the most important competition that LUMC's bouldering team will take part in. We compete against all the other university mountaineering / climbing clubs in the UK. Can you feel the pressure building already???

Varsity

The Varsity Cup is a friendly, yet hotly contested event between Liverpool John Moores (LJMU)and the University of Liverpool. This is also quite important as LJMU won last year, so we have lots of ground to make up!

Northern Universities Bouldering Series

NUBS is awesome. Basically, our team will compete in 4 rounds of bouldering competitions (in Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds and Sheffield) against other university clubs! This is simply the perfect opportunity to get some good experience for BUCS.

Climbing Works International Final (CWIF)

CWIF is another new entry in the club's calendar, but people shouldn't take it too seriously! This is an international competition (yes, international!!!) that is held in Sheffield in March and is just the best way to appreciate what a professional climber has to face! You will be climbing alongside fantastic climbers as Shauna Coxey and Alex Puccio! But don't get disappointed if you will barely manage a third of all the problems!!!

Climbing

University Lead Climbing Competition

Awesome Walls are hosting the first ever national lead climbing competition, starting in Sheffield in November. It will test your indoor lead abilities, and LUMC have the capacity to win!
